New Releases 10/31-11/6: Flailing Appendage Edition

With a rivalry older than Ken and Ryu’s, a few of this week’s new releases reinvigorate a classic competition. Yes, it’s the 80’s all over again as Atari and Intellivision restage their eternal struggle on Nintendo DS screens. If only someone can offer Coleco and Vectrex emulation, I’ll be able to carry the most salient parts of my childhood in my pocket.

Also worth noting is the releases of Microsoft’s motion-sensing Kinect and accompanying dozen launch titles. Readers- are any of these title compelling enough to move your two lowermost limbs down to the local game store?

Z.H.P. Unlosing Ranger Vs. Darkdeath Evilman

PC
James Bond 007: Blood Stone

DesertEagle’s Pick: For those they didn’t purchase Z.H.P. Unlosing Ranger on the Playstation Network, this week see the release of physical media onto store shelves. Another recent, if not spanking new, title worthy of your attention is Vanquish. Our friends at Cheapassgamer are reporting the title selling for $34.99 this week at K-Mart. Fans of intense action, should definitely consider adding this intense title to their libraries.

TideGear’s Pick: Z.H.P. Unlosing Ranger Vs. Darkdeath Evilman shall be mine this week! Anytime you combine roguelike elements with another genre, I’m immediately more interested.

Robert Allen

Since being a toddler, Robert Allen has been immersed in video games, anime, and tokusatsu. Currently, his days are spent teaching at two southern California colleges. But his evenings and weekends are filled with STGs, RPGs, and action titles and well at writing for Tech-Gaming since 2007.

  1. Wasn’t Kinect Joy Ride the game we were supposed to get for free. Now they add support for a device no body wants and charge $50 for it?

    HAHAHAHA

  2. Kinects are selling for more than the £130 selling price in the UK, BTW. Think that will happen here?

  3. Fist of the North Star: Ken’s Rage was a big disappointment. I thought this one would be good.

  4. I really want to get Vanquish, but my K-Mart is crap, they never have any new games in, just old PS2 stuff that smells moldy.

  5. Maybe Oprah should of kept a Kinect and a copy of The Biggest Loser Ultimate Workout for herself. Girls getting big these days. What happened to her trainer and all that?

  6. Is Busy Scissors a game about stabbing people or cutting hair? Or better yet cutting the hair on people you just stabbed?

  7. Don’t listen to that rag. There’s a recall from an error in the game manual that wont affect the game’s release at all.

  8. Man, I cant stand that he/she from The Biggest Loser. I bet her character model will have the squarest jaw of any VG character ever.

  9. Poor Witches & Vampires coming out the week after Halloween. Someone screwed that one up.

  10. Just like Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader: Back To School, which probably should have come out in September, not November.

  11. The fact that you didn’t pick James Bond: Goldeneye 007 for Wii make you a certifiable loony!

  12. I wasn’t a big fan of the last James Bond game at full price, but at a $15 pickup it did the trick.

  13. The King of Fighters 2002 Unlimited Match isn’t out already? I swore I saw someone tweeting about it.

  14. I’m sure a few people will, but I think most core gamers are sitting it out, until a price drop at least.

  15. Really, isn’t anyone buying a $150 peripheral with only one or two interesting games for it? If so, I feel for you suckers.

  16. I doubt anyone who reads this site will.

Maybe if the things was $99 and came with a GOOD game.

  17. actually, Kinect preorders are selling out at places like Amazon. It’s getting a bit of hype.

  18. Does it count that I applauded its announcement at E3 before being silenced by SeanNOLA?

(I might have to admit he could be right, early buzz hasn’t been kind. Shh!)

  19. I was so disappointed with that Fist of the North Star game. I’ve always loved that series so much and it has yet to get a truly amazing game. Arc Systems Works came close with their fighting game for Atomiswave but it still wasn’t as awesome as Kenshiro and company deserve.
