New Releases 10/4-10/10: Masochists Only Edition

Last week, Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2‘s relentless bosses left our fingers blistered and our nerves frazzled. This week, two additional games will test the limits of the human condition. Demon’s Souls first level is so tough, that some of our friends in the industry threw in the towel, and refused to review the game. This week also sees the release of Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising, where pixel-high enemies can terminate your hour-long game in a single shot. Before gamers surrender to the throws of adversity, remember the  proverb, “Smooth seas do not make skillful sailors”, and try not to throw your controller in the vicinity of your new HDTV.

DesertEagle’s Pick: With character art and music that recalls Disgaea, and gameplay that looks similar to Zelda, A Witch’s Tale is a no-brainer for me. While EA’s sport titles have had a remarkable year, I’m afraid NBA 2K10 may get my leisure time this year, especially if 2K Sports can fix the lag-o-rific 2K cam.

SeanNOLA’s Pick: I plan on taking a brief break from playing our review build of Demon’sSouls to run to the store to pick up a review copy of the game.  I’veonly heard good things about Afrika, and it might be able to steal sometime away from my new found Demon’s Souls addiction.

TideGear’s Pick: There’s several games released this week that I’m interested in, Lucidity, A Boy and His Blob, A Witch’s Tale and Afrika, but none that I feel are a safe bet. Since I must pick one, I’d say that A Boy and His Blob seems to have the best chance of capturing my heart and precious game time.
