New Releases 11/15-11/21: In Another Castle Edition

Traditionally, the third week of November is one of the busiest weeks in gaming, with publishers releasing a deluge of new titles just in time for Black Friday sales. Thankfully, this year is no different, with 57 SKUs hitting store shelves, waiting to entice holiday shoppers. Last year brought gamers a bit of innovation (Mirror’s Edge) along with some sloppy deviation (Rock Revolution), will this season prove to be any better?

DesertEagle’s Pick: I must be in a hop-and-bop mood, as both New Super Mario Bros. Wii and LittleBigPlanet look to scratch my platforming itch. Hopefully, I can pull myself away from Left 4 Dead 2 long enough to see the credits of both games.

SeanNOLA’s Pick: Two full God of War games for $40 is probably the easiest pick-of-the-week decision ever, even against the steep competition of Assassins Creed 2 and New Super Mario Brothers Wii. A thrifty gamer is definitely a happy gamer this week!

TideGear’s Pick: Now we’re back in action!
I enjoyed Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords more than I expected, so Gyromancer seems like a safe bet to me. Though LittleBigPlanet is lacking multiplayer, I enjoyed the PS3 version enough to go solo. Luckily, New Super Mario Bros. Wii has got the co-op platforming covered! As a stealth fan, it’s a bit shameful that I only recently started the first Assassin’s Creed. Maybe I’ll go from the first, right into Assassin’s Creed II!

Robert Allen

Since being a toddler, Robert Allen has been immersed in video games, anime, and tokusatsu. Currently, his days are spent teaching at two southern California colleges. But his evenings and weekends are filled with STGs, RPGs, and action titles and well at writing for Tech-Gaming since 2007.

  1. Agreed.

    Useless peripheral? Check.

Gameplay not as good as similar games? Check.

    Way overpriced? Check.

Still, I’ll probably pick it up for the collection when they are at Target for $20 in March.

  2. I think the general agreement is that no one is buying TH. It’s a shame that the series went this way- I used to love the old games.

  3. Yeah, this is the big week for gaming. After this week, there’s the Saboteur and not a whole lot else.

  4. I’m currently playing the God of War Collection and Left 4 Dead 2. We’ll have have some more obscure titles for your reading pleasure 😉

  5. Interesting similarity.

No, they’ll be no other site, until I learn how to clone myself 😉

  6. There’s only about 5 or 6 really good games. NCAA, NSMB, AC2, L4D2, and Little Big.

    The rest are throwaway titles.

  7. I saw this on the other site you write for Adam:

“She now believes herself to be a vampire, her new boyfriend is a demon, and she wanted to drink my four year old daughters blood. I shit you not, I couldn’t make this stuff up if I tried.”

Wow, I can see why you write for T-G, unless Deagle holds a Wiiblaster to your head and forces you to write reviews.

What happened to the site? It looks like they update every month 🙁

  8. Here’s my review of NSMBW

it’s fun like the old 2D games, at time it gets hard, maybe too hard for 4 people. Before you know it it’s over and you’re left searching for the gold coins. Good but not quite excellent 4/5.

  9. Haha, yeah, I have no idea what’s going on with them. I haven’t written for them in quite some time.

I wrote for that site when it had first started. Soon after it was sold to another party, I was no longer with the site, and things quickly went down hill.

    Thanks for being a fan!

  10. well it looks like theres 2 assassin creed games for me to get. damn and even LBP on PSP…L4D2….im going broke

  11. Left 4 dead 2 and Assassins creed 2. Both great games, the only good games released on the 17th, and both which i cant afford, just great…
