New Releases 11/22-11/28: Black Friday Edition

Looking over this week’s list of releases, one might assume that the profusion of essential titles has come to an unceremonious halt. Yet, with The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks and The Saboteur due in the next few weeks, it appears that the 2009 holiday season will be remembered for having one of the most protracted release schedules in recent history.

DesertEagle’s Pick: Long before Left 4 Dead was presenting huge hordes of grotesque, sprinting foes in a first-person environment, the mechanic belonged to Serious Sam. This week’s re-release of a high-definition version of the original game may be my chance to return to the blissful fragfests of 2001.

SeanNOLA’s Pick: With Black Friday rapidly approaching, it’s obvious now that the Holiday release blitzkrieg is coming to an end.  I could take the easy route, and declare Tekken 6 for PSP to be my choice for this week, but I instead I will suggest that our readers revisit the past month of amazing releases and make your buying decisions from that list.  Newer doesn’t always mean better, especially when the competition is ColdStone: Scoop it Up.

TideGear’s Pick: The releases are pretty sparse this week but the PC holds some interesting, albeit questionable, possibilities. Serious Sam was stupid run-and-gun fun, but I’m not sure it needed an HD remake. King Arthur – The Role-playing Wargame looks quite impressive, but the complexity could be a bit overbearing. Lastly, Twin Sector takes a stab at the under-loved physics-based puzzle game genre. Whether or not it just combines elements of similar games that have come before, I imagine it will be my favorite of this week.

Robert Allen

Since being a toddler, Robert Allen has been immersed in video games, anime, and tokusatsu. Currently, his days are spent teaching at two southern California colleges. But his evenings and weekends are filled with STGs, RPGs, and action titles and well at writing for Tech-Gaming since 2007.

  4. Not too many good games this week… But with the great releases that came from the last, and the great ones that are coming up, I’m glad to have a week off from new games so that I can play some of my old favorites haha!!

Thanks for keeping us up to date with the game releases!! 😀

  5. I have a few of the KR titles, but the Singstar and Lips games seems to be favored by everyone. The vocal recognition in Lips: NOH is the best, followed by SS, with KR in third place.

  6. You’ll have to settle for our Bright Lights! Big Screen! Scene It review, I really know nothing about Twilight.

  10. Thanks for the laugh, Sdawg!

I know a person who wrote their Master’s Thesis based on their experiences working in an ice cream store!
