New Releases 1/17-1/23: Fly the Unfriendly Skies Edition

Three weeks into January, the action game onslaught continues. Hot on the heels of Bayonetta, Darksiders, and Army of Two: The 40th Day, Capcom’s Dark Void hopes to jet-pack into the burgeoning field of joystick jerkers. Did the recent demo on the Xbox Live Marketplace and the Playstation Store ignite gamer’s afterburners or send them hurtling headfirst into an unyielding object?

DesertEagle’s Pick: I always pay attention When Nintendo releases a first-party title. When the game happens to be a role-playing game loosely based on Greek mythology,  my geek-meter goes into overdrive. Not even a protagonist clad in Medieval European armor can quell the klaxon! Glory of Heracles, it is.

SeanNOLA’s Pick: Having not yet played Shattered Memories on the Wii, I am curious to see how they managed to translate the tailor-made Wii horror experience to a controller.  However, being a huge fan of The Rocketeer, I have to give my pick to Dark Void.

TideGear’s Pick: Like Sean, I am very much a Rocketeer fan. While we may never get any more glorious Rocketeer love, perhaps Dark Void will sooth me. I just hope it’s a better experience than what I had with it at E3.

  1. When I played the Dark Void demo, I though, “How much does Nathan North” Work ????

Must he be in every damn game?

  2. Downloading the Rocketee…I mean Dark Void demo to see what all the fuss is about.

  3. That screen shot reminds me of Lost Planet for some reason. Is Capcom using the same engine?

  4. Blame a little movie called Terminator 2: Judgment Day which came out on the same day. I’ll let you guess which movie got my money.

  5. This week’s releases are pretty stale. Hard to get excited about a shooter with jet packs that isn’t Tribes.

  6. We’ve been having technical/scheduling difficulties lately, but we’re planning on recording one tonight, so if you’ve got questions for us, make sure to get them to DEagle ASAP!
