New Releases 12/10-12/16: Pint Sized Edition

If the first two weeks of 2010 are a harbinger for the remaining fifty, gamers may be in for a superlative year. We’ve already seen two solid action games, and at least two more emerging this week. Whether players wish to follow the latest exploits of Salam and Rios, enjoy the programming efforts of the Ace Combat team, or simply Walk it Out, there’s a diversion waiting for them at their local retailer.

DesertEagle’s Pick: After some extended play time with The Sky Crawlers: Innocent Aces, I can easily recommend the disk any Wii owners longing for Ace Combat-inspired dogfighting. With accommodating control styles, a decent amount of missions, and some very attractive visuals, the title is easily worth the $29.99 price of admission.

SeanNOLA’s Pick: As much as I complain about how stale that genre has become, I have to admit that I’m a sucker for a good JRPG.  Image Epoch’s Sands of Destruction looks like an absolutely turn-based beat-down, but it certainly doesn’t hurt that Epoch’s all-star team includes some of the minds behind Grandia, Xenogears and Etrian Odyssey!

‘s Pick: Believe it or not, I’m not going to pick the indie game this week! While
VVVVVV‘s demo does some cool things, it mostly just reminded me of similar games that are possibly better. Some of those games are free. My pick this week is The Sky Crawlers: Innocent Aces! Our very own DesertEagle convinced me of it’s quality, and he’s not the only one praising it. Just don’t watch the anime. Its mopiness abounds!

Robert Allen

Since being a toddler, Robert Allen has been immersed in video games, anime, and tokusatsu. Currently, his days are spent teaching at two southern California colleges. But his evenings and weekends are filled with STGs, RPGs, and action titles and well at writing for Tech-Gaming since 2007.

    My entry:

“How bout you let me join up please. We’ll be Army of Two and Half”

  2. There’s a game called Sleepover Party? I remember when kids didn’t need a $200 system to play this.

  3. Walk it Out seems like a funny title. I doubt I’d pay more than 10 dollars for it, but still…

  4. I thought the first Army of Two was a throwaway game when I bought it for $20. No way would I pay $60 for this one.

  5. If my card din’t die on me, them I might have got AoT this week. The first had some great co-op action.

  6. Hmm, he doesn’t review much and doesn’t seem to care enough about his picks. Why even is he a part of the site?

  7. My GS is taking Innocent Aces resos. WTF is wrong with them. I guess Best Buy is getting my money.
