New Releases 12/12-12/18: Reindeer Games Edition

As the malls are becoming increasing congested with last-minute bargain hunters, digital distribution has never looked better. With this week’s download-oriented new releases, gamers can skip the fights over parking spots, instead jumping right into the download queue. Once publishers figure our how to take a snapshot with Santa from the comforts of our own homes, those shopping meccas will be obsolete.

SeanNOLA’s Pick: Less than two weeks before Christmas, and someone thought it might still be a good idea to release some games.  If you absolutely have to burn $60 on something that just came out this week, I can whole-heartedly endorse finding a $60 sandwich shop.  Imagine: a $60 sandwich!  It would probably be a filet mignon, topped with bacon and havarti cheese on a pretzel bun.  It will be the most amazing $60 you’ll spend this week.  If you have to buy a game that is coming out this week, then I guess Marvel Pinball for the PS3 is better than nothing, if you didn’t already buy it for 360.

DesertEagle’s Pick
: For half the price of NOLA’s dreamwich, you can score a copy of the Super Mario All-Stars Limited Edition, which is basically the SNES remake of the four classic platformers (SMB 1-3 along with the punishing Lost Levels). If you don’t have the cart lying around anymore, and yearn for some timeless Koopa-stomping, this might be the way to go.

  1. X-Men’s coming out this week? I’m there. Hopefully, they won’t skimp on the online coop.

  2. So Super Mario is the SNES version. No glitches, then 🙁

I wish they used the New Super Mario graphics for it.

  3. Techinally LittleBigPlanet: Sackboy’s Prehistoric Moves came out last week for Plus users. Its nothing to get excited over. One person controls sackboy and the other person moves things around. I want a refund on my Move. Wheres the good games?

  4. Two for 2.22, a large Slurpee and some sale stuff on PSN please.

Tank Battle for $1.00 was pretty good.

  5. Four years ago another lady pushed my mom to the floor while she was doing some late Christmas shopping. Now she hates going to stores this time of year. I have to go for her, which sucks.

  6. I hate to be a wet blanket, but it was really disappointing. Hopefully, it will all be optional in LBP2.

  7. I’m finishing up my reviews for EA Sports Active 2, TRON Evolution, and should get Prinny 2: Dawn of Operation Panties, Dood! in on Monday.

  8. That’s a tough one. I didn’t know X-Men was coming out this week when I made my picks…i think I’ll stick with the sandwich, but I’ll give a tentative nod to X-Men Arcade.

  9. I’m sorry, but have you SEEN how many games came out in the past 6 months? Staying current is a full time job! I’m just now getting enough down-time to put real time into MG:PW.
