New Releases 2/14-2/20: Deep Cleavage Edition

This week’s new releases may be the only time you’ll ever witness two forms of lethal extraterrestrials, a pair of crime scene investigators, Che Guevara, and one malicious walking pickle sharing the same space without the use of any psychedelic enhancements. We’re going to assume that this fascinating selection of protagonists is our Valentine’s Day gift from developers.

This week’s trivia question: Which new release was admonished by the ESRB for depicting, “female characters wearing provocative outfits that expose underwear and deep cleavage”?

DesertEagle’s Pick: As an aficionado of retro games, I’m finding the Data East Arcade Classics compilation too delectable to pass by. I’ll also be revisiting my youthful pastimes with Aliens vs. Predator. As a kid I was obsessed with H. R. Giger’s creation- drawing its elongated head and outstretched claws on every school desk I could find.

SeanNOLA’s Pick: It’s been 10 years since I snuck a copy of Rebellion’s Aliens vs Predator onto the computers in my high school drafting class and learned that “Your Mother” was the greatest tag for playing a multiplayer game over a LAN.  Needless to say, I’m very excited for the team’s revival of an old favorite, but it has some steep competition against a visit from another favorite: Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth.

TideGear’s Pick: I’ve been looking forward to Aliens vs. Predator, but my brief impressions of the multiplayer demo were tainted by clunky alien controls. Maybe I just wasn’t doing it right? Regardless, I’m in it for the single player and the varied gameplay of the three campaigns therein. The Misadventures of P.B. Winterbottom definitely has my attention, but I highly doubt it will dethrone Onore no Shinzuru Michi wo Yuke  (trailer and demo) as my favorite parallel selves, time-travel action/puzzle game.

Robert Allen

Since being a toddler, Robert Allen has been immersed in video games, anime, and tokusatsu. Currently, his days are spent teaching at two southern California colleges. But his evenings and weekends are filled with STGs, RPGs, and action titles and well at writing for Tech-Gaming since 2007.

  3. Well, I did use pencil, so it was easily wiped away or erased. Usually it wasn’t cleaned until someone drew an arrow and the principals name next to my artistry.

  4. I’ll be getting Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth which is the answer to the trivia question.

  5. Nothing for me this week. I can wait for some price drops, and I still haven’t finished Mass Effect 2.

  6. but I highly doubt it will dethrone Onore no Shinzuru Michi wo Yuke as my favorite parallel selves, time-travel action/puzzle game.

    There’s more than one?

  7. I hope you review SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs: Fireteam Bravo 3. Thats the only one I’m interested in this week.

  8. I got in Korg DS-10 PLUS and Ragnarock. I’ll be covering Korg, while NOLA gets the other.

Data East and Tropico 3 are due in, and I wouldn’t be surprised if AvP showed up.

  9. It’s funny you mention that. I spoke to Ship about this game. He had NO interest in reviewing it 🙂

  10. Whose bring out Crime Scene the same week as Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth? That’s some sneaky-ass shit!

  11. What kind of kid playing AvP in drafting class or draws aliens on school desks?

    The wonderfully geeky T-G kids!

  12. Thanks for the new release information. Sadly, we seem to get the new games about a year behind you guys do.

  13. I sent a question for the podcast, and I’ll restate it here.

I can’t seem to find Shiren the Wanderer. I know you guys always love/get the Atlus games. Can you let me know if there’s been a problem with it? My GS says there’s no copies within 100 miles!

  14. Same here. Try actually calling some places? Maybe the GS site just hasn’t been updated, or perhaps there was a shipping SNAFU.

  15. No, it’s not a problem with the GS site, I’ve had my store do a manual lookup. They’re not at retail yet- at least not at Gamestop. In fact, there not even in the system.
