New Releases 5/30-6/5: Scaturient Sanguineous Edition

This week’s new releases seems sponsored by the letter “S” as a scintillating selection of stealthy spies, Spartans, soccer balls, Shinobis, and even Snoopy await scrutiny by sophisticated gamers. After the surprising shower of sensations which bombarded players in May, June looks to be relatively sedate – with a superfluous assortment of sequels, licensed titles, mixed in with the sporadic staple.

DesertEagle’s Pick: While Steam’s selection of classic Sega titles at $2.99 is tempting, console gamers might have these beloved diversions on the Sonic’s Ultimate Genesis Collection disk. Planet Minigolf looks to offer some enjoyable putting practice as I prepare to hit the greens for next week’s Tiger Wood’s PGA Tour 11

SeanNOLA’s Pick: Pre-release reviews of Alpha Protocol have been all over the map. I’m looking forward to making my own opinion – it may be the closest I ever get to a Burn Notice game!

TideGear’s Pick: I’ve been looking forward to Alpha Protocol, but like Sean, I can’t help but notice the varied reviews. I love a good Tetris release, but I’m not sure Tetris Party Deluxe can beat Tetris DS. It may be about time to bite the bullet and trade my DS Lite for a DSi and a Game Boy Micro, because I can’t keep missing out on all these cool-looking DSiWare games. X-Scape is my pick, because Q-Games rocks.

Robert Allen

Since being a toddler, Robert Allen has been immersed in video games, anime, and tokusatsu. Currently, his days are spent teaching at two southern California colleges. But his evenings and weekends are filled with STGs, RPGs, and action titles and well at writing for Tech-Gaming since 2007.

  1. Snoopy Flying Ace yeah!!!!!!!..Also hope you guys do an alpha protocol aswell or even a Snoopy Flying Ace one :P.

  2. I hope they make America’s Next Top Model isn’t a FPS with Tyra as the enemy. I’d buy it for sure.

  3. I like when then bring the PSP games over to the PS2, but I hope Syphon Filter: Logan’s Shadow is $19.99. No reason to pay more than that.

  4. $2.99 for the old games isn’t bad, but I’m hoping Steam offers some kind of package deal.

  5. I downloaded the backbreaker demo, but haven’t had time to play it. Any thought on it?

  6. When to check on Hexyz Force. I was no where to be found at Gamestop and Best Buy.

  7. I heard Desert, NOLA, and BoatCrash are going to team up for a triple review of America’s Next Top Model. 😛

  8. I’m curious about that Alpha Protocol. Not enough to drop $60 blind, though. And the lack of demo doesn’t help either.

  9. Why couldn’t “Bass Pro Shops: The Hunt” be SNK’s “In the Hunt”???

  10. X-Scape is my pick too. Let’s hope that 90’s R&B group DOESN’T do the soundtrack.

  11. I’ve played them both, and like them both, very much. Shinobi III has always held a special place in my heart, right next to Ranger X and Alien Soldier. I don’t expect very many people to agree with it (or with Ranger X for that matter) but it has always been and will aways be my go-to ninja game.

  12. Alpha Protocol is pretty bad. I might have to trade it in. If you like polsih, stay the hell away.

  13. OMG?!? TeknoViking, is that you?

Alpha Protocol will be up today.

Later in the week, expect Planet MiniGolf, Soldner X-2, Hexyz Force, Tropico 3 reviews.
