New Releases 6/27-7/3: Sniping, Swinging and Spellcasting Edition

Whether enjoyment emanates from procuring headshots with a Barrett M107, beating stuffed foes senseless with a baseball bat, or just wiggling your wand at encroaching Death Eaters, this week’s new releases offers an array of ways to eradicate enemies. Players less interested in direct opposition also have a few choices- they can take on calories or literature with a few divergent Nintendo selections.

DesertEagle’s Pick
: As a certified shmupologist, I have my sights locked on two shooters: Deathsmiles and Sin and Punishment: Star Successor. If hard-pressed for a pick, I’d recommend the later, as the typically sadistic Treasure team if reaching out to both neophytes and calloused-fingered veterans.

SeanNOLA’s Pick
: There has been a lot of positive prerelease buzz surrounding NaughtyBear, but I can’t help but wonder if they’ve tipped their entire handtoo early.  I’ll probably end up grabbing Hot Shots Tennis when/if it evercomes to PSN, because I just know it will be a great bus stop game.

TideGear’s Pick: Wow, my pick is finally being done helping my sister move, and Sin and Punishment: Star Successor.

Robert Allen

Since being a toddler, Robert Allen has been immersed in video games, anime, and tokusatsu. Currently, his days are spent teaching at two southern California colleges. But his evenings and weekends are filled with STGs, RPGs, and action titles and well at writing for Tech-Gaming since 2007.

  1. He’s getting weak on us 😉

Actually, he’s probably adopted a wait and see attitude. Unknown developer.

  2. Did you guys see the N3II: Ninety-Nine Nights press conference at E3? Awful…. just awful. Shame of the show.

  3. All Points Bulletin. I expect NOLA and Karnov to wake up later today (although not together) and post.

  4. Junior Classic Books & Fairy Tales? Getting kids to read on a DS seems impossible.

  5. The Harry Potter demo was really good. Different from the other Lego games. I might have to get it.

  6. Thinks have been pretty quiet, but Raven usually comes through. Id say proceed with caution.

  7. Since Hot Shots Tennis: Get a Grip is selling for $20, I might have to get this.

  8. I really need to try the game, but I’ve heard the framerate falters on even the best machines.

  9. Yep, while the concept has me excited (I loved Sniper Elite for Xbox), you are right- I’m being hesitant with my optimism. I’ve been burned a few times before…

  10. I was thinking about The Last Airbender.

Anyone remember when they used to include MovieCash in new games? What ever happened to that trend?>>

  11. I remember, the program sucked because you could only go to certain movie theaters. I still have some certificates around.
