New Releases 7/11-7/17: Going to the Dogs, Cats, and Rats Edition

Upon inspection of this week’s new release schedule, it appears the animals have taken over. Whether players are being tempted by the lure of racing farm animals in the latest episode in the Calvin Tucker series, partying with a pizza-chain mascot, or watching feline and canine spies engage in counterespionage, four-legged creatures are ubiquitous this week. Heck, even NCAA Football 11 is teaming with longhorns, tigers, gators, wolverines, falcons and wildcats.

DesertEagle’s Picks: I’m torn between the hack-and-loot goodness of DeathSpank and the prospect of playing Sentinels of the Starry Skies with my podcast cohorts. Who am I fooling? I’ll be picking both up.

SeanNOLA’s Pick: FINALLY!  Between The Bachelor and Chuck E. Cheese’s Party Games, I may not be able to put my put my DS down for weeks!  Oh, also I hear that Dragon’s Quest IX is coming out and that it has dragons and stuff in it, but where are the rats and romance?

TideGear’s Picks: I’m not yet convinced that it’s for me, but with little else to choose from, my pick this week is DeathSpank. Well, technically, I’m waiting for a PC version. A Diablo-like premiering on console just seems odd.

  1. The hairpiece on Nic Cage in Sorcerer’s Apprentice was an animal at one time also.

  2. Another no so good week, except for DQ, but I’m not really felling that one.

  3. I’ll picking up Little League World Series Double Play only if there’s a Korean team filled with 19 year-olds.

  4. Is Sentinels of the Starry Skies really as hard as people are saying?

I also hope I can have a fun time with the SP.

  5. My favorite minigame is “pull the tickets from the skeetball lane next to you” It’s part stealth and rhythm based.

  6. I’ll give Deathspank a try for sure. I’ve been waiting for a good Diablo clone on consoles.

  7. How come your list is so much bigger than Shacknews new releases? It’s like double the size!

  8. my favorite is ‘slap the crying kid to make him cry even louder’. I hope they use Wiimotion Plus for real 1:1 hitting action.

  9. I think he’s just the podcast host now with his work for Rockin’ Android. I don’t see too many of his reviews anymore.

  10. Damn, Ive been waiting for Calvin Tucker’s Redneck Racing: Farm Animals Racing Tournament my whole life.
