New Releases 9/19-9/25: Post Reach and Move Soreness

Despite last week’s two pronged attack- with Halo Reach and the Playstation Move damaging bank balances , publishers show few signs of offering a respite. PC gamers are due to be hit especially hard this week with a binary bomb of Civ IV and the collector’s edition of Final Fantasy XIV. Playing the later title won’t be cheap- expect to pony up $75 to become one of Hydaelyn’s first residents.

DesertEagle’s Pick
: While I’m not the biggest fan of cartography (preferring to leave the map-making duties to a microprocessor) there’s no denying that I am fascinated by Etrian Odyssey III: The Drowned City. When an already vicious game tempts players with a gimped character class, the challenge may be irresistible. Fragile farmers of the world unite, and rejoice in your defiant arrogance!

SeanNOLA’s Pick
: If you haven’t played Darksiders, and only have access to a PC…well, then to be perfectly honest, you probably aren’t very indicative of our audience – BUT, if you are such a person, then you should make it your personal mission to seek out Darksiders, which hits PC this week.  Console fans are still feeling the ripple effects of “Distance your release from Halo” syndrome, but still might want to check out the newest Deathspank installment.

  1. I could make a joke about Tinker Bell and the Great Fairy Rescue but I won’t. I’ll probably get myself permabanned.

  2. Is is any surprise that there’s pick from TideGear?

I’ll try the DeathSpank demo for sure.

  3. Didn’t Chicken Blaster get a “F” here?
Is this a sequel or the same old shitty game with a new piece of plastic.

  4. So will Final Fantasy XIV have a monthly subscription rate on top of $75 for the collector’s edition?

At least they could throw in half a year.

  5. Don’t sports game usually have the name of the upcoming season in the title. So NHL 11 and Madden 11 are out, but gamers are just getting F1 2010 now. Strange.

  6. New Carnival Game will probably get a buy this week. The first was the kid’s favorite Wii game ever. No figure.

  7. I’m curious if High Velocity Bowling will do anything better than the bowling in WiiSports Resport.

  8. Between this rehash, and Chicken Blaster with a new piece of junk ‘rifle’ this week is embarrassing.

  9. Are colons REQUIRED in game titles now?

    Farm Frenzy: Animal Country
    Gormiti: The Lords of Nature!
Midnight Mysteries: The Edgar Allan Poe Conspiracy
    DeathSpank: Thongs of Virtue

    Even F1 doesn’t escape.

  10. Square-Enix has confirmed that users will have to pay out $12.99 for a 30 day subscription for the game. No annual discounts either.

  11. Man, I do not care how much Final Fantasy costs. I’m playing that thing the day it comes out. I don’t care if I have to sell magazines, or outdoor playground equipment, or my own mother to make the change.
