New Releases for the Week of March 13, 2011

Whether players are protecting the U.S. from nuke-toting North Koreans, watching over Chibiterasu or just keeping on eye on the sideline, defense is an ever-present theme across this week’s new releases. Rumor has it that habitual tough guy Kazuma Kiryu may have to safeguard his tattoo-covered back from malicious gangs, as well. Players might want follow the advice given to Caesar, now that the Ides of March are upon us.

DesertEagle’s Pick
: while the diffident demo revealed little beyond an assortment of new fighting styles, I’m optimisic for Yakuza 4‘s blend of underworld intrigue, fisticuffs, hostesses, and Boxcelios 2 at the local arcade. Hopefully, enough people will join me on the mean streets of Kamurocho- so that by next year, the underworld can take on the undead

  1. I’m a bit surprised that Deagle didn’t pick Shogun II: Total War.

Where’s the other guys (and girls) picks?

  2. Since there never seems to be a sale on Yakuza 3, I guess I’ll buy Y4 next week. No sense in waiting.

  3. I want Dissidia Prologus, but the idea of paying for a demo is pretty evil.

  4. You know that buying Prologus is the only way to get Aerith in the full release of Duodecim?

Squeenix has you by the short and curlies!!

  5. Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood as long as Ubisoft has copy protection that doesn’t need a constant connection. Anyone know what method they are using?

  6. Yakuza 4 just got 6.5ed by Greg “My heart isn’t really in it” Miller. Still up for it, Deagle?

  7. This is an example of the big sites not understand smaller, Japanese game.

Greg Miler, “I have to read text? There’s no dubbing?”

  8. Two different issues. The text is the same as the Japanese version, which isn’t fully voiced.

Saying things like the streets all look the same makes we want to facepalm. He probably things all Asians look the same too.

I played the game last year and have NO problem identifying the streets. I guess it helps that I lived in Tokyo for the first 12 years of my life, but still, there are visual cues.

  9. Just don’t trust the big sites with Japanese indie games. Rely on them for the big game games, like Halo and Killzone 3.

  10. I’ll wait and see. On the surface it seems gimmicky. But maybe we’ll see a Dead Rising/Yakuza crossover.

  11. I doubt Yakuza 4 deserved to be 6.5’ed. IGN likes to hate on the smaller games, and kiss ass on the big ones.

  12. especially if you can share tracks online.

I wish I had a PC fast enough to really run this proper.
