New Releases for the Week of November 20th, 2011

From Skyward Sword‘s Link, WWE 12’s The Rock, Tekken Tag Tournament‘s Forrest Law and even the Power Rangers, this week brings back a array of heroes who have briefly wandered from the gaze of the spotlight. With savvy coding and a bit of luck, these new releases may remove the sting of a half-decade long wait for a new Zelda game or Dwayne Johnson’s roles in Get Smart and Tooth Fairy. Actually, there’s probabably very little which can absolve that last cinematic calimity.

DesertEagle’s Pick: Even if you think Spectacle Rock refers to Lady Gaga’s outrageous outfits, this week’s release of The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword is sure to captivate. If rumors are correct and this is in fact the Wii’s last first-party title, Nintendo is issuing a fitting send off to the oft-misunderstood system. A few hours with Link is certain to wash away most memories of the those awful third-party Wii titles.

SeanNOLA’s Pick: Nintendo managed to squeeze Skyward Sword into the eye of the storm – despite heavy November competition leading up to this week, the new Zelda title is more or less uncontested for the top spot this week.

Samurage’s Pick: I’m a pretty Big Zelda fan and I’m finally at a point in my life when I can play the game without my brother ruining the end for me. So Skyward Sword for me.

BlueSwim’s Pick: It’s that time again. THQ returns to the ring once again for the latest installment of their annual WWE wrestling games. While no longer known as Smackdown or Smackdown VS. Raw, WWE ’12 still has the heart (and engine) of the previous games in the series. WWE fans new and old will find a roster packed with familiar faces. Complimenting today’s WWE Superstars, like John Cena, Randy Orton, and Zack Ryder, are all-time greats, such as “Stone Cold” Steve Austin, Kevin Nash, Vader, Eddie Guerrero, The Road Warriors/L.O.D., and Demolition. Will THQ finally overshadow WWF No Mercy on the Nintendo 64? Probably not. However, WWE ’12 is shaping up to be the best WWE game of this generation and well worth snapping into at launch. Did I mention that the “Macho Man” will be DLC? OH YEAH!!!

  1. Power Ranger and Glee in the same week? Get ready for the earth to implode from the pressure of all the trash we have created.

  2. Have you guys seen the trailer to Corpse Party? There’s some crazy shit going on there.

I hope you review it. Actually, I wont buy it until I see some reviews.

  3. I really hope The King of Fighters XIII is better than the last one. The soundtracks and Atlus’ name are a good sign.

    1. Yes, the review will be up tomorrow. If you’re thinking about getting it, the game will not disappoint.

  4. Hole In The Wall.

They are making a glory hole game? Yes. Now I never have to leave the house.

    1. I’m usually a lurker here, but I just wanted to give your username a thumbs up. Games and facial hair FTW.

  5. Time to pick up the Bat-Man for PC. I hope it doesn’t have some insanely sensitive protection scheme.

    1. For me it’s one of the other. I might have to go with KoF, for no reason that it’s $10 cheaper.

  6. I just noticed Sonic Generations. Seems like that one should have come out with the console version.

    1. Me too. I played a bit of it and got hooked. Just like the best Mario games.

I’m also interested in Serious Sam 3: BFE. Wonder how much it’s going to sell for.

    1. You’re trying to troll, right? If not, try playing The Adventure of Link, Majora’s Mask, and Spirit Tracks and tell me they are all the same.

  7. “despite heavy November competition leading up to this week, the new Zelda title is more or less uncontested for the top spot this week.”

    Tekken says “o, hai!”

  8. Assassin’s Creed; revelation, Super Mario Land 3D, Skyrim, Modern Warfare 3, and now Skyward Sword.

There’s just too many damn “must play” games this year. I really wish they would have spaced them out a bit.

  9. Sage, does your brother give spoilers or does he play your save game? My little brother will jump on my save instead of playing his own game.

  10. Although I’m broke and I REALLY should save money to buy important people in my life gifts, The King of Fighters XIII and Tekken Hybrid are really tempting me.
