New Releases: Week of February 20, 2011

According to the ESRB, about six percent of games are given the M for Mature rating each year. Yet, between the release of Bulletstorm, Killzone 3, and Knights Contract, this week’s percentage is closer to 23%. Although certain pseudo-scientists may make wild speculations based on the number of adult-oriented title,we offer only one prediction: diminished bank accounts across the land.

DesertEagle’s Pick
: The original de Blob was my pick of E3 2008, and garnered one of the first ‘A’ grades on our site. I’m eagerly awaiting the sequel, which adds some side-scrolling segments to the returning 3D hop-and-bop, color splashing.

SeanNOLA’s Pick
: XSEED Games has yet to disappoint me with their recent PSP revivals of the Ys series.  Although I’ve already played through a handful of Books I&II ports, I’m still very excited to see if XSEED will go three for three with Ys I&II Chronicles.

Robert Allen

Since being a toddler, Robert Allen has been immersed in video games, anime, and tokusatsu. Currently, his days are spent teaching at two southern California colleges. But his evenings and weekends are filled with STGs, RPGs, and action titles and well at writing for Tech-Gaming since 2007.

  1. Was Amnesia: The Dark Decent the one Sage talked about a few week ago? It’s getting rereleased?

  2. Where’s Tide and Sage’s pick this week?

Just Radiant Historia for me. I still need to get DQ6, too.

  3. Ah, EverQuest it’s been years. Have you missed me? We used to me so close, spending all our free time together.

  4. The guy from Bulletstorm has small feet. You know what they say about guys with small feet, right?

  5. I thought it was cool, but not worth a $60 purchase. Maybe if they included the GoW3 beta with it, I’d bite.

  6. I hope you guys review Radiant Historia! That’s the only thing that interests me this week.

  7. For a while I thought it was just a Katamari rip off, but it’s a really great Wii game, one of my favs.

  8. Ain’t nothing wrong with that. Do you mind me asking where you got it from and how much you paid?

  9. NOLA sounds like he doesn’t even want to go to E3. What’s up with that?

Some people would rather read the DieHard Game Fans’s and Tech-Gaming’s than IGN’s and 1Up’s shit.

“We are taking scheduled spots from Giant Bomb, IGN, etc”

    So wrong, Sean.

  10. NOLA, that’s why there’s appointments for publishers, and meeting rooms.

You sound like some of the big sites should get a free pass- remember D-toid (as bad as it is) started by wanted to get into these shows. Joystiq writes really crappy stuff, you obviously care about review. Why would you let them take a spot?

  11. I might pick up de Blob 2 this week. Should I go for the 360 version is stick with the Wii controls?

  12. Um, why are you guys talking about that in the new release thread? That should probably be in the podcast one.

  13. BTW- If you are getting Bulletstorm you may want to pick it up at Best Buy. For $5 more you get Gear or 1, 2, and the DLC.

  14. Question for next show- What elements are necessary for a game to be considered GOTY? Storyline, Epic scope?
