Podcast 13-4: The Quest for Miku Pantsu

Miku Pantsu
Beyond one of our hosts pushing Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA F’s photo mode to its absolute limits, the crew offer impressions of Disney Infinity, LEGO Chima: Laval’s Journey, Pikmin 3, DuckTales Remastered, Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate, Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons, Dragon Fantasy Book II, and SteamWorld Dig. Within the two hour timeframe we also manage to provide semi-relevant responses answers to reader mail and offer Grand Theft Auto-themed trivia to commemorate the upcoming Rockstar release.

      1. You know, my first experience with horchata was a soda. I had NO IDEA what it was.

That’s like drinking chocolate Shasta and forming your opinion of chocolate based on that.

But I overcame. I don’t know how horchata be so good. <3

      1. She’s embarrassed about showing her pantsu to Robert for podcast cover art purposes, that’s all.

  1. Oh man, Ryan’s back. I almost forgot about that guy. Did you send him to the dungeon for three months or what?

BTW, I like him. Keep him in the line-up.

    1. Why thank you kindly, sir! Indeed, the dungeon was cold, dark, and full of odd smells. It’s good to be back!

  2. PSA: I’ll be hosting a Tech-Gaming DOA5U lobby tonight at midnight/11CST on PS3. Grab either the free or full version of the game and join me! 😀

  3. It’s been so long since you guys have had a show! I hope you’ll get back to at least a bi-weekly schedule.

    1. We’re talking about it Doug! Thanks for the support! Hopefully soon!

With the sporadic schedule I try to cram in every single game I played and give DEagle an ulcer.

I still missed some. I really wanted to talk about DiveKick.

  4. No Indie Outlook or interview this week. ;(

Stil listening to the first 20 minutes sounds like a great show. Good energy level.

    1. Yep, a 3 hour show with both of things would have been the world’s best podcast ever.

And who writes about tech and has one computer? Get with the program, NOLA. 😉

  5. Deep down, Robert wants to be Major Nelson. I laughed about the “I’m not waiting an hour and a half to play f’ing Titanfall comment”.

  6. So much to love about this week’s show.

    Return of Ryan.
Titanfall trolling turning into “Have you seen Disgaea?”
    Scat commercials.
    Hatsume Miku panty hunting.

  7. Listened to half. Great vibe between the hosts. Have to disagree with Jeremy about DuckTales. The voice and writing is bad.

      1. Got it now. Yeah I feel like Sage is real. I feel like the Hatsune Miku thing was staged. Eric knew all along it was stopping him from looking at panties.

  8. Hey Robert I also have Tekken and Need for Speed on Wii U, add me @ GunMetalJackal, thats an open invitation to anyone else too 🙂
Also Blue, youll be happy to know Soul Calibur has a free look camera ;P

  9. Robert complains about waiting to see Titanfall. He complaints about Adam Sessler talking too much during a presser and waiting in line with everyone else for an appointment.

    Entitled much, dude?

I know you’re growing and all, but you’re still a guppy compared to Giant Bomb. You might want to know your role. Not everyone cares about crazy little Japanese games.

    1. Seeing as how this is his place I would say he’s perfectly entitled to complain. He’s one of my fave hosts of any podcast and is always respectful and considerate of his guests, visitors and peers.

    2. I have had my fair share of PR duties in the video gaming community for quite some years, I have seen quite a lot of everything and this is exactly what makes me appreciate having the opportunity to work with Tech-Gaming today. I can say that Robert is someone who works very hard and has quite the empathy, equity and sincerity not many editorials do. Entitlement is far from anything that could describe his work, considering he always goes the extra mile to do more for others in the industry, and he never claims any sense of privilege over that, or what he does in TG.

It is rather unfortunate that some podcast banter may be appreciated as something like that, they do joke among themselves and these things are usually placed into a different light in a friendly approach. But the fact he’d feel lazy to do a line has got nothing to do with what he thinks or not about the game; the fact he’d agree or disagree with whatever whoever would say only opens a debate.

Personally, I find this comment somewhat harsh, considering how much I disagree with it – knowingly I have witnessed quite different.

      1. Yeah, he never stuck me an entitled or a jerk. He always seems polite with guests and is fair in his reviews.

        1. I’ve known Robert (and Sean, as well) since 2008-09, back when I was blogging on CheapAssGamer, and he has always treated me with respect, even at times when I deserved to be cussed out. He’s a class act. The gaming industry would be far better off with more people like him.

          1. Alright, I’m sure he’s a great guy. But from my perspective I’d love to go to e3. In fact its my dream. And getting able to play Titanfall months before anyone else, I’d easily wait many hours for that privilege.

Same with sitting next to Adam Sessler. The guys a TV personality. Who wouldn’t want to sit next to him during a media event and hear his own personal take on things?

Maybe I overreacting toward Robert and lumped him in with a bunch of other podcasting people, but the honest to god truth is that these guys don’t know how lucky they have it. So next time, you fuck “Fuck Titanfall. I’m not waiting to see that” think of the people who would love the opportunity.

      2. People take things too seriously. It’s a podcast about video games. It’s not about talk about fixing the government shutdown.

    3. I see where you’re coming from, however Robert doesn’t get this dropped into his lap, he works damned hard at it, its why he’s here =)

  10. All these complaints are since E3, so basically he’s got three complaints in three months. I think that’s a fair amount. It’s not like he’s whining all the time.

  11. Dragon Fantasy Book I was on sale August 26th for $2.99 which was a fair price for this really grindy game.

Book II was $14.99 with a PS+ one week discount to $11.99.

I couldn’t recommend the game for more than the $2.99 price. Sure, it is crossbuy and feels like a 16 bit RPG, but there’s plenty of better PS1 RPGs that you can get for PS3, PSP, and Vita.

      1. Damn straight! [Check your local listings, your mileage may vary. Rules and restrictions apply. Not available in Canada.]

@Burning Skies, the thing I like about Dragon Fantasy is that they’re DOING this. Now, in anno domini two thousand thirteen. I think that should be supported, and I think they do a pretty good job of it.

Book 2 is a little buggy, and they’re patching it, but how cool is it to have a game like this that is brand new that is made of nostalgia? Pretty cool, I think.
