Podcast 13-9 PC Captivation

Podcast 13-9

This episode, the Tech-Gaming crew offers impressions of Card City Nights, Cloudbuilt, ThiefinFAMOUS: Second Son, the Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls expansion, BlazBlue: Chrono Phantasma, and Strider. Beyond offering our typical dose of gaming trivia, the IndieOutlook team also invites MegaDev‘s Mike, Nick, Jon, and Stefan to discussion the creation of titles such as Atomic Gringo, Super House of Dead Ninjas, Bomboozle 3, as well as their forthcoming role-playing game. To make amends for that callous joke, the team is giving away five Steam codes for Marc Eckō’s Getting Up: Contents Under Pressure. Simply leave a comment detailing a way that you release pressure to be entered into the random drawing.

  1. The creator of Sewer Shark and Night Trap came over to Robert’s house? Wow, that’s pretty amazing. I would have totally geeked out.

    1. That was touching. Jeremy’s comment was pretty cold.

      Why was Ken Melville visiting?

      RIP, Ken.

      1. Yeah, I thought the same initially. Maybe Jeremy was trying to change the mood.

      2. I love the Cinemaware game. They were ahead of their time. It’s hard to believe that were able to get that much artistry into a small memory size.

  2. Robert, I have to admit that I’m a little sad you’ve gone PC on us. I hope you don’t lose an interest in RPGs.

    1. Robert, you didn’t talk about any Japanese games this week. I hope you don’t forget about it. Thats why I like this site.

    2. As long as Steam doesnt include Japanese language support PC games are just going to be from Europe and America. Id love to see some VNs on Steam.

  3. I’m glad you had MegaDev on. I love SHoDN. Its pretty much a perfect game. I play at least once a week- I can’t say that about any other game.

For the contest. Hahaha. I exercise.

  4. Did I miss something? Why does Sage hate the XBone so much.

For the contest: Julia. She’s a AV idol. 😉

          1. That mascot is pretty fitting. It just needs a 16-bit style rendition.

Fell the same as Ryan about the PS4. Basically, we need more big budget games. The trickle of indies is cool, but each one lasts me about a week tops.

  5. Infamous:SS framerate in unlocked. It’s not a steady 60 fps. They adding an option for a consistent 30 fps, BTW.

  6. Sounds like Robert is moving on to bigger and better things. Success ruins everyone if you give enough time.

    1. Good thing I haven’t experienced it yet and don’t plan to anytime soon!

  7. The chitune Smiths song after the end of the interview got a few laughs from me.

    I’m a huge Smiths/Morrissey fan.

  8. Sound quality was a bit suspect for Jeremy and a few spots in the interview. Otherwise, good work. Really like what Ryan adds to the show.

    1. Those podcasts where some people are on one side and other are in the other ear kind of drive me crazy.

      1. I’m the same way. The podcast aren’t usually like that. Can you fix it?

    2. Jeremy is a trooper. There were sections during the recording where he had a hard time hearing the rest of us. Like a consummate professional, he knew exactly what we were saying and commented accordingly.

    1. Robert, are you playing Titanfall on your PCs? I gotta ask.

Also RoS talk was pretty great. I didn’t know Sage was pretty hardcore about Diablo.

  9. When I heard that Robert was going hardcore PC, my first thought it that the site has jumped the shark. We’ll see, but I don’t like hearing that.

    1. I would think the fact an Editor in Chief opens up to more platforms for gaming is a positive thing, it opens up to availability to much more content for the site, not the other way around. Tech-Gaming still pushes up to 3 to 4 reviews on a good week, and has yet to stray away from what the original intent of the site goes for; quite frankly, it is hard to see him choosing anything else but lolis – in any platform available.

      1. That’s good because as you know most sites don’t seem to give jrpgs a fair shake. They seem to have editors and reviewers that don’t understand the genre or what fans are looking for. The thing about Tech-Gaming is that Deagle ‘gets’ it.

  10. I’ve spent way too much time playing Holy Crap Bears, Atomic Gringo and House of Dead Ninjas. Great hearing from the guys that made the games. Need to find this Nightfall game.

  11. Good show!. I’ll admit I have’t listed in a while but glad to see the time off hasn’t made everyone all rusty.

    So I’m thinking about either:
    1) upgrading my (or buying a new) PC
    2) buying a PS4,
    3) or even getting a XBox 1 if I can grab it for $400 or $450 with Titanfall.

    Any suggestions?

  12. What happened to Say during the interview? She barely spoke.

And no official IndieOutlook episode? 🙁

    1. You would not believe how crazy it was to actually make that interview happen! At first it was difficult gathering everyone together, then we had some technical issues and had to re-schedule, but luckily we made it happen in the end. I know it wasn’t probably the most ideal scenario, some sacrifices had to be made due to time and all that, in the end I’m quite happy and thankful to have had the guys on the show at all.

No Indie Outlook this time around, but you sure got an exclusive on the upcoming MegaDev game, that’s better than listening to us troll each other :p

  13. I thought Card City Nights graphics would look better. 🙁

They look like something I’d draw. Indies need to hire an artist.

  14. Agreed, Hentai Cat should be a meme.

1000 games that you play on your way to work? I’m so jealous.

  15. Question for next podcast:

How do you pick your advertisers? I see a ton of “Asian women looking for men” ads, that’s why I ask.

    1. Most advertisement goes through third parties, which means you work directly with one company and they showcase a bunch of different ads from whatever clients they have got, this varies accordingly per region and whatever data it picks up from user. I have yet to see anything like what you just mentioned, but thank you for notifying that – we will see what we can do about it.

      1. I dont think I the weeaboos here are offended. Just curious. I admit I clicked.

  16. I see a panda spitting out his drink when he sees Rift is FTP. Actually pretty funny. I don’t mind the ad.

  17. For the next podcast, can you discuss you you feel the Xbox One and PS4 are doing.

Also, have any of you wanted to be game developers?

    1. Yeah, a bit more info would have been cool. Cmon MegaDev, drop a hint or three for us.
