Podcast 4-7: 97 Beautiful Games and 3 Ugly Ones

This week, The Tech-Gaming crew welcomes SEGA’s Aaron Webber, AKA RubyEclipse to the show. Aaron discusses what improvements were made to Phantasy Star Portable 2, as well as what gamers can expect from upcoming titles  Sonic 4 and Yakuza 4. Listeners can also expect Halo Reach and Atelier Rorona: Alchemist of Arland impressions, in addition to our customary dose of gaming trivia, and mailbag questions.

Don’t forget to send your questions for our next mailbag, and subscribe to the Tech-Gaming Podcast on iTunes. Leaving a review would be an cool thing to do; and keep us from begging for feedback every show.

  1. wait no TideGear this week? Man, he has been doing a lot lately, beyond taking two weeks to review Metroid.

  2. I noticed TideGear’s presence is slowing slipping. He rarely talks about new releases, reviews games, and just come on to talk about Rockin’ Android now. 🙁

  3. I hate you say it, but I think you guys are better off without Adam. Drop him and maybe get a new third guy.

  4. Thanks god someone said it about Halo Reach, it’s not the end all be all.

Some of those review scores are nuts…

  5. I’m glad you said that about Halo Reach. It feels really dated to me, and except for a few changes in MP feels like the same game, I’ve been playing for years.

I Know MS is pushing for this to be GOTY, but they’re just crazy.

  6. Perfect scores from Gamepro, Gamespy, 1up, D-Toid, IGN UK, Escapit, Joystiq. Need I say more???

  7. Deagle makes some good points about Halo. Too bad NOLA doesn’t seem interested and TideGear is missing.

You guys need to have some kind of call-in show sometime.

  8. anyone who doesn’t like Halo shouldn’t be reviewing games. Its the most important game of the year, and all you do is crap all over it?

Its obvious your a PS fanboy because all I see is Move stuff. Halo is a real game for real gamers.

  9. talking smack about Halo is like throwing rocks at a hornet’s nest. You should probably avoid it if you dont like the sting.

  10. wait a cool minute here.

When did this (or any game) get to the level that you cannot criticize it? So by that logic we should just blindly give Reach a 10,A+,5 stars for being Halo? I don’t think so.

This is just like any of the other games that gets released every week. Just because Master Chief or Zelda or anyone else is in it, doesn’t mean people should not talk about any problems with it.

  11. Madden hasn’t ruined football games, it just ruined them for ME.
I am more of the Blitz/NBA Jam kind of sports game fan – I like to pick the Saints, use Reggie Bush to run every play, even when it doesn’t make sense, and break Farve’s legs at the end of every game. I can’t get into the hard sim games, like Madden, but I don’t have fun playing as fake teams either.
Since I have to play Madden to use the Saints, I can’t have fun playing an NFL game, and since the license IS important to me, then I can’t really enjoy football games in general.

  12. I already used PStar music in a previous episode (actually, I used it last time we had Aaron on to talk about the PSU servers going down). I picked After Burner II because it was SEGA though, and that seemed appropriate.

  13. Nothing. The soundtrack to the Podcastravaganza was almost entirely from Sonic 3 (although there is an EWJ track in there). It was all just mixed with hiphop.

  14. I remember. Good stuff. I’m surprised the hedgehog and hiphop go together so well. Too bad SEGA didn’t discover this in the 90’s otherwise we might be playing the Genesis 5 today.
