Podcast 6-2: Sage’s Mohawk

This week, the trio offers impressions of Catherine, Crysis 2, Bulletstorm, Batman: The Brave and Bold, and the Hydrophobia title update as well as indie darlings Trino and Cog. Along with our two contests and NGP overview, the trio offers the usual recommended weekly dosage of gaming trivia and reader mail responses.

  1. My ipod Touch dies this week, so I’ll have to listen via my computer. Still that’s Ok by me.

    Young Avengers!

  2. Sage really brings it this show. But one tip: Audiosurf has been out for a while and I’m sure a lot of listeners have played it. Stick with games like Cogs that haven’t got as much notice.

  3. Well, there is a Mr. T video game under development by Zootfly, who got the license from Mohawk Media, but I don’t know when or if it’s actually coming out. Also, from the commercials, he’s a NightElf Mohawk in WoW. 🙂

  4. Wow, Sage bring it, with the Mr. T info.

“I pity the fool who messes with that girl!”

  5. Did you read that post on Joystiq that that are serious limiting media in E3 this year?

You guys probably won’t be affected, but what do you think of that?

  6. I guess there’s been a lot of crossover between the platforms- Secret Agent Clank, the Tekken games, Syphon Filter that look like they are running on the same programming code.

This won’t be the case with the NGP, as they won’t be able to fit a Bluray onto a cart.

  7. Like I said on the podcast, I didn’t look at the specs, so I didn’t know how difficult PS3 to NGP ports were going to be.

Yet, knowing this industry, if there’s a way to recycle assets, code, ANYTHING…they’ll do it.

BTW- Those were some good examples crossplatform examples- I could have used those during the show!

  8. Good show, Sage brought it this week, with lots of games. She’s a good counterpart to Deagle.

  9. Actually, we could very well be affected. Last year, they decided to wait until the last minute to limit entry, and we almost couldn’t get everyone in. A friend from another outlet found out at the show last year that one of his writers was no longer eligible, due to a drop in their numbers (after paying to fly him to LA and putting him up in a hotel downtown).
The harsh truth is there are thousands of outlets now, as opposed to the few hundred there were 15 years ago, and there’s no real fair way for them to control attendance numbers. Chances are good that, unless you write for ign,1up or GiantBomb, you’ll be running slim this year.

  10. Thats pretty much bullshit. It would be like having a TV event and only inviting ABC, CBS, and NBC.

  11. I did. It was pretty good, but very short. Judging from your name, you’ll probably like it 😉

  12. Out of those ‘thousands’ of sites 90% are crap, fanboy-type shit like HHG.

Personally I think your reviews are just as good as, and sometimes better than the big three.

  13. Question for next week:

After the holidays I’ve seen tons of Kinects and Moves just sitting on stores shelves. There’s been promotions for free games and discounts, but people don’t seem to be buying anymore.

Is this the beginning of the end for these devices?

    The Amazing Spider-man!

  14. I like the way the people who work at these sites have been applauding the limits. I might just applaud when they lose their jobs.

  15. Why has Way Forward not come on? They said, “NO?”

    Silver Surfer (Old school, baby)

  16. Just a thought- podcasts are better when everyone is on the same page. Everyone should have played Cog, and the Crysis 2, Bulletstorm demos.

  17. Garnett Lee said games were easily translated from Ps3 to NGP. He thinks games you start on one system can be played another.

  18. Desert was all over the place in his statement, but there will be PS3-NGP ports.

In the same way that 360 code gets ported over to the PS3 (that why there’s middleware) Sony knows not to make a system that would require a ton of ground zero programming.

  19. PS3 to NGP is easy, I guess.

    http://www.computerandvideogames.com/288500/news/sony-ngp-porting-ps3-games-simple-and-quick/

“Porting PlayStation 3 games to PSP successor, NGP is “simple and quick”, worldwide studios boss Shuhei Yoshida boss told Edge.

Speaking in the mag’s latest issue – which is with subscribers now – Yoshida called making NGP’s development environment “as easy as possible” a priority – but stressed that it doesn’t mean we’ll only see PS3 ports on the handheld.”
