The Tech-Gaming Podcast, 3-9: The Lost Episode

Typically, collectors will pay a gargantuan amount of money for the privilege of owning unreleased material. Thanks to SeanNOLA’s efforts in remastering an episode previously thought corrupted, now our listeners can enjoy this oft-requested podcast, nearly disregarded, totally gratis, podcast.

Now our listeners can finally hear DesertEagle’s Tournament of Legends, DeathSpank and DragonQuest IV: Sentinels of the Starry Skies criticisms, as well as SeanNOLA’s discussion of Landit Bandit, cartography, and his (gasp!) disdain of NISA. Before we move into a round of Nintendo-themed trivia and open our adored mailbag, TideGear enlightens us of his new Japanese-indie darling.

Don’t forget to send your questions for our next mailbag, and subscribe to the Tech-Gaming Podcast on iTunes. Leaving a review would be an cool thing to do; and keep us from begging for feedback every show.

  1. Deagle=Leonardo. Oldest, best fighter

TideGear=Donatello. The brainy one who probably prefers puzzlers.

SeanNOLA=Michelangelo. The comedian of the bunch.

  2. Awesome intro music. I was grooving to it in my cubicle right now. Almost got caught.

  3. I can see Konami’s telephone number. Maybe I’ll call them today and ask where’s my Axelay sequel. 😉

  4. is Tide’s new “Japanese-indie darling” his girl or his game. Its hard to tell with him.

  5. I hope TideGear brings some effort to the show. Has anyone noticed he barely talks new games anymore? Whats going on with that?

  6. I’ll admit, I fast-forwarded to the end (to check for Easter Eggs, of course) and I can see why this didn’t get put out.

    Spoiler:

Sean talks shit about Desert’s love Nippon Ichi. I’m sure he wanted it canned.

  7. I’m not buying that- it says “SeanNOLA offends NISA in the graphic” so they are joking about it.

Also, why wouldn’t Deagle just ask for that section to be edited out.

  8. Somebody count how many grunts and moans NOLA makes. It will break a dozen in this one, I’m sure.

  9. Yea. We fell a little behind this week and couldn’t record on time (thus the lost ep) but we’ll be recording a new one tonight, come hell or high water!

  10. NOLA’s teasing DEagle about NIS’s misfortune seemed a bit mean-spirited and even more worrisome it felt biased. What kind of review is happy to see a company suffer?

  11. Nice reference to his “Love” discussion which might have been about the emotion or the indie MMO. I still haven’t decided.

  12. I love a great conspiracy as much as the next guys, but if something was to be excised from the show, it would have been our comments on the back-ups question. That’s always a touchy subject for the industry.

  13. You might need to listen to our older episodes (plug, plug). My appreciation (and SeanNOLA’s APPARENT disinterest) in the company is an on-going joke.

  14. I actually do love those guys over a NIS, especially our contacts stateside, but I do like to see the Deags squirm. To be fair, NIS makes a lot of games that I really DO like – I mean come on, they made Rhapsody, and I’m really looking forward to ZHP. I just think it’s funny that Rob gets all wrapped around the axle about them. I’m sure he would do the same thing to me if Sega or Relic had sad news – it’s just good natured ribbing.

  15. Great, better late than never they say!

I think I still have a mailbag question that was never answered. Can you guys check again? Please!

  16. Haha, I never used the word “reviews!” More like “behind on unpacking and moving.” But yea, I just turned in a review for a PSP Mini game, so…that happened.

  17. I’m fully aware. I’ve just been busy lately! Luckily, I’ve had more time lately.

  18. Nola saying there’s a zero chance of him playing Kinect really lost me. How could a reviewer refuse to play somthing? Quit trying to be so damn cool.

  19. Even Ryan Davis said he’ll break down and get Kinect, even though none of the game interest him.

  20. I never said that there was zero chance of me playing Kinect, I said that there was zero chance of me getting one on launch day. It would be a waste of money for all three of us to get Kinect on day one when there are no interesting games on the horizon that use it.
When something that the core demographic would be interest in comes out, I’ll bite, but until then, it will join the LeapFrog and the Sony Ericsson in the realm of “things that have games on them, but do nothing for our audience.”

  21. Honestly, I’d like reading your guys take on it, but I doubt I’ll buy one until the price drops and some decent games come out.

Let desert dance his JRPG loving dance off.
